All of this food that would have gone to waste has been redistributed to needy individuals and families throughout Shelby, Fayette and Desoto counties.
Here are some typical examples of what receivers have to say about the impact of this ministry among the people they serve:
Becky VanDeren
Ozanam Center Coordinator
“The Society of St. Vincent de Paul’s Ozanam Center is a food mission serving the hungry 365 days a year. We feed from 150 to 200 people every day. The operation is based primarily on donations and volunteers.
We are grateful for the plentiful food donations from Trader Joe’s. With the help of this gleaning mission, we are able to serve our guests fresh produce and fruit. We are fortunate to have volunteers who can cook up anything.
Not only are our meals healthier with your donations, but we prevent additional food waste.”
Jenny Fehrenbacher
Director of Parish Social Ministry
“We are Incarnation Catholic Church are so incredibly grateful to you and those who supply you with the bountiful donation of fresh produce we receive twice monthly. Our clients have been so thrilled to have fresh produce, and our requests for food have increased by about 25%, from 25 requests per month to almost 40 per month since we started receiving the produce.”
Craig McGee
Lead Pastor
“Please accept these heartfelt thanks from Victory Life for your generous donations of fresh produce. We were able to supply 143 family units in our neighborhoods with fresh produce.”
Erv Walker
Capleville United Methodist Church Food Pantry
“Our clients benefit tremendously from the donations received through RRM from their donors. Prior to the existence of RRM these clients rarely received fresh produce. Now they can look forward to a nutritious meal. This means the world to many who are elderly and/or disabled.”
